Bookplate for the Century Association. The Century Association is a private club in New York City, that was founded in 1847 to promote interest in the fine arts and literature. Maynard was an American painter, illustrator and muralist. He was elected an associate of the National Academy of Design and served as its librarian. Smillie was an American painter and also elected to the National Academy of Design.
