Description

35mm color slide of a white eggcup (Vincennes Porcelain Manufactory). Yellow and blue flowers are painted on the body, stem, and base. The rims are highlighted with gilding. Eriksen and De Bellaigue note that this type of eggcup with a foot (coquetier à pied) was easily broken, and so by 1756 the Vincennes Manufactory begin producing the more durable variety of eggcups without feet (1987, 305).
