Description
35mm color slide of a knife handle (Sèvres Porcelain Manufactory). The white ground color is overlaid with a latticework of gilt-trimmed, green bands, a style known as “green ribands” (rubans verts). In the interwoven spaces of the green ribbons are paintings of blue, red, and yellow flowers. The green riband design is very similar to that in “Plate with Green Ribands” (assiette à rubans verts, slide 19) and “Two Plates with Green Ribands” (assiettes à rubans verts, slide 24).
